Excerpts from Gov. Malloy's State of the State Address:

"I am challenging the people in this chamber and business leaders across the state to join me in committing to build nothing less than a full-scale economic revival. Not a recovery, a revival."

"(I)f you've learned nothing else about me in the past 13 months, I hope you've learned this: I do what I say I'm going to do, and I do what I think is right for Connecticut, irrespective of the political consequences."

"(W)hen I say it's time we reform teacher tenure, I mean it. And when I say I'm committed to doing it in the right way, I mean it."

THE MINIMUM WAGE

Connecticut's hourly minimum wage of $8.25 is one of the highest in the nation, trailing Washington at $9.04, Oregon at $8.80 and Vermont at $8.46.

Five of the six New England states exceed the federal minimum of $7.25. The exception is New Hampshire, whose minimum is the same as the feds.

Connecticut is one of 18 states with a minimum higher than the federal standard. Twenty-thrree are at the federal level, four are below it and five have no minimum wage.

Ten states have a minimum wage indexed to the cost of living.
