Election History

McCrory won a Democratic primary in 2004, ending the political career of Rep. Annette W. Carter, then the city's longest-serving House member. McCrory faced Hartford councilwoman R.J. Winch in a primary in 2010, and won by capturing two-thirds of the votes.

Background

McCrory helped found the all-male academy at Lewis Middle School in Hartford. During the 2010 legislative session McCrory lead a long line of students and parents - many of them charter school supporters - through a committee hearing room during a hearing on a major education reform bill that would increase graduation requirements among other things.

McCrory was a basketball star at the University of Hartford. He lives in Hartford with his wife and children.

Financial Disclosure

McCrory reported income from the Hartford Public schools for adult education administration and his salary as a state legislator. His official biography lists his wife, Foye Smith, as a public defender, but he did not report any income earned by her in 2008 or 2009.He owns two homes in Hartford and reports have no securities exceeding $5,000 or debt over $10,000.A note on financial disclosure: Every spring, officials are required to disclose the ownership of real estate, the source of any income exceeding $1,000 in the previous calendar year and securities worth more than $5,000.
