Public financing: Larson did not seek public financing for his campaign under the Citizens' Election Program.
Background: Name recognition was not a problem for this freshman in his first campaign for the General Assembly. His brother is John B. Larson, the congressman and former state Senate leader. And Tim Larson was the popular mayor of solidly Democratic East Hartford for eight years. After a three-year break, he is back in politics.

Education: B.A., Eastern Connecticut State University
Occupation: Executive director, Tweed-New Haven Airport
2008 Financial disclosure: Larson reported income from Tweed-New Haven and his wife, Nancy Larson's, salary as a South Windsor teacher.
The only stock they held worth more than $5,000 is Peoples Bank.
He chose to keep confidential information on debts more than $10,000, as allowed by law.
A note on financial disclosure: Every spring, officials are required to disclose the ownership of real estate, the source of any income exceeding $1,000 in the previous calendar year and securities worth more than $5,000.
A new look for The Mirror
The Connecticut Mirror is launching the first phase of a redesign that will make our site easier to read and navigate and provide more news, features and links to content elsewhere on the Web.
Starting this week, you'll see a new home page designed to display more stories, along with links to our blogs, other state websites, the best reader comments and more. Additional features will be added in the weeks ahead.
We're also making the process of registering, commenting and signing up to get our stories emailed to you easier. However, these changes will require us to suspend reader input over the Labor Day weekend.
The redesign process will continue through the coming months, and we invite your comments and suggestions. We'll post a link to a special comment email address as the first round of changes is implemented. We look forward to hearing from you.
