Betsy Ritter was Waterford's registrar of voters and tax collector before going to the General Assembly. She has risen quickly in Hartford, taking over the co-chairmanship of the Public Health Committee in her third term.
Ritter reported no income outside her salary as a legislator, other than investment income. Her husband, Grant Ritter, is employed by Brandeis University and also has his own statistical consulting firm. They own homes in Waterford and White River Junction, Vt.Their extensive investments included stock in health-related companies: Aetna, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Quest Diagnostics.They reported having no debts exceeding $10,000.A note on financial disclosure: Every spring, officials are required to disclose the ownership of real estate, the source of any income exceeding $1,000 in the previous calendar year and securities worth more than $5,000.
