Background

Orange was a legislative staff member from 1991 to 1995 and a member of the Colchester Police Commission from 1993 to 1996. She is a deputy House speaker. Co-chairwoman of the Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus, Orange successfully pushed for the reduction of an approved 100 percent increase in state park fees and hunting and fishing licenses down to 35 percent. But that scaled back increase was matched with a new hike in fines for a variety of motor vehicle violations.
