Orange was elected in 1996 and until 2010 she hadn't faced an opponent since 2002, when she won by 1,156 votes. But this past year Orange won by less than 340 votes over GOP challenge Joe Broder.
Orange was a legislative staff member from 1991 to 1995 and a member of the Colchester Police Commission from 1993 to 1996. She is a deputy House speaker. Co-chairwoman of the Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus, Orange successfully pushed for the reduction of an approved 100 percent increase in state park fees and hunting and fishing licenses down to 35 percent. But that scaled back increase was matched with a new hike in fines for a variety of motor vehicle violations.
Orange reported no outside income in 2010. Her husband, Dennis Orange, is retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. They own a home in Colchester and Linda Orange owns a share of a home in Union, Maine.They reported owning no securities worth more than $5,000.She waived confidentiality allowed under state law and reported a debt in excess of $10,000 owned to Chase Bank.A note on financial disclosure: Every spring, officials are required to disclose the ownership of real estate, the source of any income exceeding $1,000 in the previous calendar year and securities worth more than $5,000.
