Election History

Elected in 2006 to an open seat, succeeding Democrat Michael Cardin, Hurlburt narrowly survived a challenge by Republican Robert Arute in 2010, winning by 235 votes.

Background

Hurlburt graduated from college in 2001 and was elected two years later to the Tolland Town Council. He held at several staff positions at the General Assembly before his election as a legislator. Hurlburt has been a vocal opponent of an outright ban on outdoor wood furnaces.

Financial Disclosure

Hurlburt reported outside income in 2010 from Campaignswon, a Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm. His wife, Tracy Hurlburt, is employed by Securitas, a security company.
