Background

Nafis was on the Newington Town Council for five years before going to Hartford. A former vice chair of Appropriations, she was passed over for chair of the budget panel in 2009 by the new speaker, Chris Donovan. Instead, the new majority leader, Denise Merrill, named Nafis to her leadership team.

Nafis lives in Newington with her husband and two sons.
