Election History

Wright won an open seat in 2008, succeeding one-term Republican Ron Burns. But things were much tougher in 2010, with Wright winning by just 387 votes over Democrat Jill Fitzgerald.

Background

Wright, the son of former Rep. Gardner Wright, D-Bristol, recaptured what had been a Democratic seat.

Wright was part of a coalition of moderate Democrats who appealed to party leadership in March 2010 to close a mid-year budget deficit without any additional borrowing.
