Frey is a member of the Republican National Committee. When Republican State Chairman Chris Healy explored a bid for RNC chairman in 2010, Frey expressed support for Chairman Michael Steele.

He serves as a House Minority Whip.

He owns a home in Ridgefield and a property in Wilmington, Vt.He owns stock in 10 companies, including Apple, Google, Netflix, Costco and three giants with state connections, General Electric, United Technologies and General Dynamics.Frey filed a confidential addendum listing any debts exceeding $10,000.
