Election History

Grogins unseated 12-term Democrat Robert T. Keeley Jr., by 94 votes in a Democratic primary in 2008. She was unopposed for renomination in 2010, and easily defeated a Republican challenger.

Background

A Bridgeport native, Grogins served on the City Council for 12 years, then was elected to the Board of Education for four more.

Financial Disclosure

Grogins reported income from her solo law practice, cases handled for the state as a special public defender and from Suffield Associates, a real-estate investment partnership in Fairfield.Her husband, Ira W. Nachem, is a bank executive and adjunct professor who had wages from Amalgamated Bank, Capital One Bank, New York University and royalties from sales of his book, "The Complete Guide to Financing Real Estate Developments."They own a home in Bridgeport and condominiums in Winhall, Vt., and Bonaire, Netherland Antilles. They reported several stock and mutual fund holdings valued at $5,000 or more.She filed a confidential addendum listing any debts exceeding $10,000.
