Election History

Rep. Noreen Kokoruda won a February 2011 special election to replace Rep. Deborah W. Heinrich, who left for a position in Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's administration.

Background

Rep. Noreen Kokoruda replaced Rep. Deborah W. Heinrich, D-Madison, who resigned the seat to take a cabinet-level position in the Malloy administration leading a Community Nonprofit Human Services Cabinet.

Kokoruda was sworn in on Feb. 25, 2011 after a special election. She's been a Madison resident for over 30 years, spending 13 years serving on Madison's Board of Selectmen. 

She is the former executive director of the Shoreline Foundation and chairman of Madison's Beach and Recreation Commission. 

Kokoruda lives with her husband in Madison. They have two grown sons and three grandchildren.
