Murphy raises $1.2 million in his best quarter
Tuesday, July 10, 2012
U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy, D-5th District, reported today that his Senate campaign raised $1.2 million in the second three months of 2012, his best fundraising quarter since entering the race to succeed the retiring Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman.
His campaign says it will report more than $3.1 million cash on hand of a total of $5.45 million raised.
The reporting period ended June 30, but no Senate candidate has yet released a full report, which do not have to be filed until July 15. Murphy is in a two-way primary with Susan Bysiewicz for the Democratic nomination.
He was the candidate endorsed in May by the Democratic convention and enjoys leads in funding and in the polls.
